They will fulfill the dreams of cameramen and filmmakers everywhere

Given the size of professional photo and video cameras, one may be excused for thinking that the devices can use solid state drives for storage, or something equally large, but that's not the case. They use memory cards, like all their peers, which is why the latest product release from Transcend will go over so well.

Granted, the memory cards employed by professional film capture equipment, CFast, use the largest form factor there is. Still, CompactFlash cards are, nonetheless, quite small – small enough that the storage capacity of 512 GB is quite rare indeed.

Yet that is precisely the capacity that Transcend's CFast 2.0 CFX600 Memory Cards have achieved. Admittedly, they aren't as fast as they could be, but that's what the other new range of CF cards is for, CFast 2.0 CFX650.

More specifically, the CFast 2.0 CFX600 series offers 128 GB ($249 / €249), 256 GB ($499 / €499), and 512 GB ($949 / €949) capacities but falls short of 500 MB/s speed. Arguably excusable, considering that there are no other cards of over 500 GB capacities.

The CFast 2.0 CFX650 line, however, achieves 510 MB/s read speed (and 370 MB/s write speed for those wondering), but ships only in 128 GB ($499 / €499) and 256 GB ($949 / €949) variants.

In any case, there will be no trouble when shooting any type of film, or any quality, up to and including 4K UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels).

Transcend's storage devices boast built-in ECC (Error Correction Code) technology as well, which detects and corrects transfer errors automatically, an increasing risk the faster the recording process becomes.

Finally, Transcend's CFast 2.0 CFX650 and CFX600 memory cards ship with the exclusive RecoveRx photo recovery software. Even the most experienced of photographers sometimes delete a picture by accident. RecoveRx will allow them to restore accidentally lost files, and it works on every other Transcend storage device on the market.

The Transcend CFast 2.0 CFX650 and CFX600 CompactFlash high-end memory cards ship with 3-year limited warranties. To get RecoveRx, you will need to download the software after the storage units reach you.

Given the general rave surrounding ultra-high-definition movies, with or without 3D technology, it is safe to assume that the newcomers will sell quite well over the next few months. Hollywood's best titles gross millions, so a thousand dollars or less here and there will hardly register on the budget sheet.
