16GB model arrives for fashion-conscious consumers

Now that it has said its piece on the hard disk drive and memory markets, Transcend has decided to cater to the needs of another of its consumer segments. In short, the company has finished development of its latest USB flash drive, though the newcomer is not exactly common among its peers, nor is it intended for a very wide set of users. The fresh product bears the name of JetFlash V90C and has a larger capacity than its predecessors.

Granted, the JetFlash V90C series existed prior to this announcement, but the newcomer boosts the maximum capacity to 16GB. For any other unit, such a storage space would not be particularly outstanding, especially knowing that there are a slew of flash drives of even 128GB, among other things, already on the market. What is more important, in this case, is that those 16GB are crammed inside a very small enclosure. To be more specific, the entire unit measures 33.8 x 13.1 x 4.5 mm.

Of course, the size itself is not the only design element that makes the TS16GJFV90C stylish. In fact, the metal casing itself has a capless design, is laser-etched and has geometric shapes that confer a 3D illusion upon it. Naturally, Transcend wouldn't have put this much effort into beautifying its creation if it didn't, at the very least, perform decently. That being said, the transfer speed will be able to reach up to 15MB/s on USB 2.0, which is not bad at all for a unit that can cram 16GB inside and still be only 4.8 mm-thick.

The Transcend 16GB JetFlash V90C, priced at 34.41 Euro, will join the existing family of fashion-oriented solutions, whose other members provide 2GB, 4GB and 8GB, respectively. As a bonus, end-users can download the JetFlash Elite data management tools, which enhance mobile productivity. Possibilities include locking the entire PC, to prevent unauthorized access, and turning the JetFlash drive into a key to automatically log on to website accounts.
