Get ready for the biggest (animated) adventure of 2012: Pixar has just released the first official, full-length trailer for “Brave,” its first release with a female lead. You can check it out above.

As most other female heroines, Merida too wishes to be free of social constraints so as to be able to live her life as she sees fit.

In her case, this also implies being able in taking part in “manly” activities like confronting wild, dangerous beasts and competing in men's only tournaments.

As the official synopsis reveals, Merida will only get her wish granted after meeting with an old Wise Woman, but that will also unleash one of the oldest and most powerful curses in the kingdom.

Merida is voiced by Kelly Macdonald, but “Brave” also features voice work from Emma Thompson, Billy Connolly, Robbie Coltrane and Julie Walters.

It will be out in theaters on June 22, 2012.
