Back in 1996, Nicolas Winding Refn, he of the “Drive” fame, came out with the cult classic “Pusher” trilogy. The first film from it has been remade, and you can see the first official trailer for it above.

Directed by Luis Prieto and listing Refn himself as producer, the new film tells the same story as the original, that of a gangster who finds himself in a very desperate situation after a drug operation goes bad.

The cast includes Agyness Deyn, Richard Coyle, Bronson Webb and Paul Kaye.

“Frank's life is a fun-filled rollercoaster of a ride that soon spins out of control. Friendships start to vanish, there is no longer room for love within his life, and violence takes over,” reads a short synopsis of the film.

“Danger and chaos are all around and he becomes a man trapped in his own world. Eventually Frank is left with no one to turn to and nowhere to go, becoming a man paralyzed with the fear of knowing there is no way of preventing his inevitable fate,” the same synopsis says.

The trailer does look very promising so, if you haven't seen the original trilogy yet, now's a good time to be introduced to it.
