Berbie has released a new version of its route-planning application for Mac OS X, TrailRunner. Version 1.9.1.369 should deliver more stability to users of the software. TrailRunner is aimed at long distance sports like running, biking, hiking, inline-skating, skiing, and more, with a geographic display of the workout area.

TrailRunner can calculate a route for the desired distance, and export directions onto the users' iPod. This way, they get detailed orientation, while keeping the workout going. In recent releases, the company has introduced the ability to display collected workout data within the program, matching the recordings with routes created by users. TrailRunner integrates with nikeplus.com, the online community for the Nike SportBand, and the Apple Nike+ iPod Sport Kit-running devices.

The changelog for TrailRunner version 1.9.1.369 reveals that only two improvements have been incorporated in this release, one of which addresses stability issues. The other, according to Berbie, addresses an issue where exporting a PDF for the selected route sometimes missed the route.

Earlier versions of TrailRunner (as existing users should know) added support for the new Garmin ANT Agent, while the Garmin ANT Agent itself added support for the Garmin ForeRunner 50 and Garmin ForeRunner 405. Garmin ANT Agent 2.0.3 has now added support for updating Forerunner 405 firmware, as well as support for sending goals to Forerunner 405 from Garmin Connect. The fresh version also modifies the 'Authorization OK' dialog for a better visibility. According to Berbie, users must select the new importer in TrailRunner's Application Preferences, in order to benefit from this addition.

TrailRunner is still in the pre-release state. All current releases of TrailRunner will run for about three months. Berbie urges users to regularly update to the most current version, as well as review and accept the License Agreement that comes with the application, before using it. TrailRunner versions above 1.6 (including the one available for download today) require Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard to run. The only remaining version supported on Tiger is TrailRunner 1.6. Both supported versions are available using the download link below.
