TrailRunner, the route-planning software application developed by Berbie, is now at version 3.0 build 509. The new release delivers mostly fixes, but several new features and enhancements can also be spotted in the changelog. TrailRunner is updated on a weekly basis, and can display maps and elevation data from web-based mapping services like USGS topo maps, import GPS recordings from Trails for iPhone, as well as import tracks and workouts from GPS fitness devices like the Garmin ForeRunner or Garmin Edge.

The release notes for TrailRunner 3.0 Build 509 reveal that selecting more than one activity in the diary now displays an overlay of the newest workout and all older ones, within the workout chart. Also better is selecting more than one entry in the diary - it now displays an aggregate over all entries in the bottom-right workout summary, according to Berbie, which seems to have listened to customer demand.

In the diary workout view, selecting more than one activity displays the sum of distance and ascent. A source filter has been added to community imports, while route filtering on hiking, running and biking for gpsies and everytrail has been improved. Berbie mentions three more enhancements, those being: an option to the document background map settings pane to select the default openStreetMap provider, updated localizations and the addition of a File > export selected activity as TCX file. A complete list of fixes for version 3.0 Build 509 is provided as such:

- Renaming an equipment item in the diaries left source list threw an error (heiko). - Several stability problems from error reports. - Import issues with GPX files. - Some corrupt route scenarios could slip through the startup consistency check. - Improved scroll to focus behavior when selecting routes. - ToolTips for map toolbar buttons did not appear. - Actions for escape and delete keys did not happen during creation of track or routes. - Editing activities to be imported while more activities load in the background could loose the just entered text. - The vertical exaggeration slider for the activity histogram did not affect any other rows that speed. - The activity description being entered in the activities importer could get lost on clicking the import button.
