Berbie, maker of TrailRunner, has updated its route planning software application to include a new re-routing option, and fixes for six issues spanning from startup crashes to route listing problems.

The new option added by Berbie is aimed at users attempting to remove a track or crossing point that is being used by any route. According to the changelog, the feature  gives them the ability to automatically reroute the affected routes. As for the bug fixes, you're welcome to skim through the list below.

- Worked around a startup crasher (sebastian, lucas, ed). - When dragging waypoints the map did sometimes scroll inconveniently.

- Fixed a problem where the route slider was still visible when no route was selected. - Fixed a problem with the internet connection checking that could come up under heavy load. - The openStreetmap service did not show any images in the most detailed zoom level. - Fixed a problem when changing the selected route the map did always jump to the start of the route.

TrailRunner is aimed at sports dealing with long distance traveling. Runners, bikers, hikers, inline-skaters, or skiers can use the free software to determine how long, or how effective their workouts are, and what routes work best for them. TrailRunner can also calculate a route for the desired distance, and export directions onto their iPod. This way users get a detailed orientation, while keeping the workout going.

With the release of TrailRunner 1.7, Berbie offered them the ability to display their collected workout data within the program, which matched the recordings with routes created by them. The same version release added integration with nikeplus.com, the online community for the Nike SportBand, and the Apple Nike iPod Sport Kit running devices.

One of the latest releases (version 1.8.277 – Beta) delivered an Export as TCX command, to export a list of routes, and a new toolbar item that made the export directly accessible (for user convenience). A newer beta improved TrailRunner, so that the app can now display recordings from current iPhone 3G and iPod touch models equipped with a GPS.
