The future of radio sounds pretty high tech, probably more than it should. How come? Well, for starters, the recent Internet radio mania has led to the creation of numerous gadgets of this kind that menace to totally destroy the traditional way of listening to such devices.

What the manufacturers really did, was to take the radio streaming from your PC or laptop and make it mobile, embedding the system into the good-old radio device itself.

In addition to the large offer on the market, this great radio from TerraTec, dubbed the iRadio, grants you access to 10,000 stations as well as to your own music library, meaning no boundary at all when it comes to receiving information from worldwide radio stations.

Besides looking futuristic and all, the Noxon iRadio combines classic and modern design features to create a look that could integrate nicely into most homes or workspaces. Not to mention the possibility of using a wizard to integrate the Noxon into your existing network and sync it with your personal computer music library using included software (compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux).

This built-in functionality means you can listen to your favorite tunes just about anywhere you like without having to plug your laptop or uproot your desktop.

Even if it was designed to be another futuristic gizmo on the market, the radio has five preset buttons that serve the same function as the traditional radio. However, to choose your five favorite stations from over 10,000 available, using the iRadio is said to be quite a challenge.

But after that, all of the 10,000 radio stations are sorted on country and genre for easier file navigation using the button controls on the device or the remote control that comes when you purchase the item.

Not to mention there is even a speaker unit, which allows you to listen to music without the need for any additional hardware, but if you somehow feel the need for some extra sound, you can always hook it up to your HiFi system. For private quieter moments, there's a headphone socket.

If you're wondering about pricing and availability details, the system is going to retail for around US$240, it comes with the Noxon iRadio, power adapter, remote control (with batteries), software CD-ROM and more accessories.

Nice, huh?
