Tradewinds 2 started off as a PC game and did pretty well in this environment. Actually, it did so well that Astraware Limited decided to give it some mobility and make it available on cellulars too.

Tradewinds 2 is actually a sequel of the Tradewinds game, which has received appreciation from its players. The game offers its players the opportunity of building an empire through combat and trade, just as old-fashioned sailors used to. There are 20 new ports over what the previous game version had to offer. In each of these, the player has the opportunity of trading and buying new products.

That is quite a challenge, as the PC version has proved to be highly addictive, which also stands for the main reason for its success. The player has cargos of silk, arms, general goods or dream dust, which is illegal in those lands. Anybody wonders why?

In each port, the Governor asks the captain of the sailboat for help in matters of honor and reward. This ranges from simple shopping tasks and up to saving fair maidens and winning battles against tough pirates. There is also a certain amount of magic in this world, aside the dream dust, that is. The player must buy charms and amulets from the trader in order to safely reach destination in the next port.

Tradewinds 2 asks for a considerable amount of strategy skills, as the 19th century proves to be quite hard on sailors. There are two game modes: Story Mode and Free Trade Mode, which provide more than one hundred different tasks, just to break monotony.

Tradewinds 2 is available form now on to be purchased for the estimated price of USD 20. It is compatible with Palm OS handhelds with hi-res screens running OS5, and also with Windows Mobil? devices with a touch screen running WM2003, 5.0, and 6.0.
