Tracy Morgan's representative came forward today to quell the rumors according to which the actor and comedian would have to have his leg amputated as a result of the injuries he sustained in the car crash that occurred last weekend.

The actor made headline news on Sunday after he was involved in a violent car crash on Saturday in which several people were killed after a truck crashed into his limo on the New Jersey Turnpike. Immediately after, the actor was reported to be in critical condition, as doctors began treating him for several broken bones, which included his leg.

Yesterday, reports began surfacing that Morgan would have to get his leg amputated since it was badly mangled, but today, Lewis Kay, Tracy's representative has come out to deny those rumors. While he does admit that Morgan's leg was badly hurt, he calls the reports “completely fabricated.”

He also adds that the actor's condition remains “critical but stable,” and wants to thanks fans and well-wishers for their support. Morgan has already undergone surgery to repair the extensive damage to his leg and TMZ says that it won't be cut off as doctors managed to provide adequate treatment.

The representative says that right now Tracy is with his fiancée by his side, and together, they are working with doctors to see Tracy through this ordeal.

As a side note, the representative added that “This recovery will be arduous and we hope that you can be patient during this difficult time.” Information on developments will be coming in as doctors are said to be working close with the actor's PR team to provide updates.

Meanwhile, this deadly crash is causing debate in the American Senate, bringing a sensitive issue to light, that of how many hours truckers can do on the road. The truck involved in the weekend crash belonged to the Wal-Mart chain on stores and it emerged that the driver hadn't slept in more than 24 hours when his trailer hit Morgan's limo.

Driver fatigue seems to be one of the recurring reasons in many of the crashes that occur on American roads and the National Transportation Safety Board reports that at least four other incidents are already under investigation in which truck drivers have crashed into slower traffic ahead.

They call for new rules for truckers to stick to a strict schedule and warn that this problem has a high potential of happening all over again on some other road in the country.
