G-Book mX Pro comes with a new network technology that will let you download, on the fly, up-to-date maps and traffic information. The new G-book service includes Probe Communication Traffic Information, a feature which uses data from other vehicles (VICS-Vehicle Information and Communication) equipped with G-Book mX to offer you with highly precise info about eventual traffic congestions.

The mX Pro service is fee-based and relies on the on-board data communications module (DCM), compared to the free mX basic version that comes with the new compatible HDD navigation system that relies solely on cell-phones phones when the data "meets" the on-board GPS. In addition to the mX, the G-BOOK mX Pro features services such as a security service and operator service.

The new compatible system will come equipped with a Bluetooth AV profile that lets you connect wirelessly to cell phones and portable audio devices in order to play music via you car's audio system. It delivers wireless playback with a good sound quality, eliminating noise interference and sound distortion.

It also features a music package (G-Sound Capsule), a new operator service that will allow you to request a human operator advice regarding the optimal route (G-Search). Using an on-board camera and map info, the "stop sign notification service" software will tell you if there is a stop sign in the intersection you're approaching. And to complete the list of "benefits", there's even a fee based service (HELPNET) that will probably save you if you run into troubles like accidents (1,050 Yen).

The new service will only be available starting this spring in Japan and it will cover Nagoya, Osaka, Yokohama and most of the Tokyo. There's no word about the price yet.
