Vendors aren't ordering all that many touch panels anymore

You'd expect all notebooks to have touchscreens in the near future, and, thus, for everyone who makes touch panels to have and expect good business.

It turns out, however, that anyone saying something of the sort would be speaking too soon.

According to a report, touchscreen makers will face rather low utilization rates for their notebook products in the second half of 2013.

That's because notebook vendors won't be as keen on the idea of touch-enabled laptops as some would have thought.

In fact, touchscreen notebooks will account for only 10% of the total laptop market in 2013.

Thus, suppliers will probably use only half of their production capacity at best.

Meanwhile, consumers can figure out if they would prefer touch support on all laptops, despite the added price tag. No doubt surveys will be held in regards to this, while analysts keep an eye on consumer interest.
