As we announced yesterday, Sony has decided to launch a new model from the T-Series line, the main novelty having nothing in common with a bigger screen or a more powerful processor, but with the integrating of WWAN in the notebook's construction.

WWAN means Sony Vaio T350 can be connected to the Internet from any zone which is covered by the cell phone network. WWAN is no news, the technology being already accessible for notebook owners, but only with supplementary cards, which were difficult to configure.

Sony Vaio T-350 comes with SmartWi, a software which is able to switch between WWAN, WLAN or Bluetooth and also to inform the user of the covering area and the intensity of the signal.

Although Sony Vaio T-350 functions only in the United States and only in the Cingular network, EDGE connection is also available in European countries and the Sony/Cingular model could be copied by others notebook producers and cell phone operators.

The dimensions and features of the Sony Vaio T350 (weighing only 1.3 kilograms) make it an ideal mobile equipment and if we add the multiple connection possibilities we obtain a feasible alternative to PDAs and even smartphones.
