There’s also the chance that this is a canceled project

Although we knew this was coming, we’re not there yet. SEGA and Creative Assembly may already be working on a Total War game set in the fantasy world of Warhammer.

The idea of a Warhammer game in the Total War series dates from back 2012, but at that time we didn’t have enough elements to confirm the information. Today, however, the folks over at Kotaku report that a Total War: Warhammer game is closer than we might think.

One of their readers who received an art book that covers the entire history of the Total War series and is now shipping to customers brings up details on an unannounced project.

A short paragraph mentions an Arena mode for a game called Total War: Warhammer. Here is the entire excerpt in the art book: “ARENA. For most strategy games, multiplayer is almost all of the experience or, at the very least, a sizeable chunk of it. We’re also experimenting with this in the mobile space, with Total War: KINGDOM, and taking the series to a fantasy settings with Total War: WARHAMMER.”

Hopefully, this isn't some canceled project that made it onto the art book

Now SEGA and Creative Assembly did mention that the art book might cover some of their canceled projects as well, so it’s not really clear whether or not a Total War: Warhammer game is still in the cards for release in the not-so-distant future.

On the other hand, we knew that a completely new team inside Creative Assembly is working to bring Games Workshop’s Warhammer universe to Total War series.

Even though this looks too good to be true, there’s a high chance that Creative Assembly will announce their first try on a Total War game set in the Warhammer universe. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this one, so make sure to stick around for more updates on the matter.
