Gamers can choose what items will be sold

The Total War community might be getting ready for the launch of the new Attila full-blown sequel and at least two side projects, but the team at The Creative Assembly in charge of the franchise is also preparing to reveal an official merchandise store linked to the franchise.

At the moment, the official site is hosting a survey, which is designed to allow fans to offer their feedback and make clear what kind of real world objects they would be interested in buying.

It seems that The Creative Assembly is exploring the possibility of introducing familiar products like T-shirts, mouse mats, posters, campaign maps, but also things that are less connected to the real time strategy concept, like figurines or mugs.

All those who aim to offer their opinion on the Total War store also need to reveal the titles in the series that they have played and they have to provide an e-mail address that the studio says will only use for promotions and announcements, without sharing it with any third party.

The Creative Assembly is not saying when the official store might be launched or if it plans to make it a prominent long-term goal to introduce physical products into the pre-order process for games in the franchise or its associated downloadable content.

Total War might be spreading itself too thin

Most loyal, long-term fans of the Total War franchise will be unhappy to see that the series is getting an official merchandise store because this means that the energies of the studio are not entirely focused on making Attila the best it can be.

The Creative Assembly might explain that it has a number of teams and that it is still working hard to deliver a solid strategy experience, but the image of the company will surely not benefit from the most recent announcement.

Total War: Attila will be launched on February 17 and gamers will be able to choose from a variety of factions, including the fearsome Huns, and try to survive as the world implodes around them.

The Creative Assembly is also working on Total War: Arena, which will be launched later this year, and on a separate Kingdoms title, both of which are set to expand the types of experiences the series offers and draw in new audiences.
