The faction will always exist in a powerful horde state

The development team at The Creative Assembly is delivering a new trailer for Total War: Attila, which is designed to show the powerful Hun faction in action and focuses on its leader, the rider of the ashen horse who is terrifying Europe with his military capabilities and his appetite for destruction.

The video is mostly focused on the character and on his amoral nature, which allows him to carve a path of misery and death as he moves from the steppes to the civilized areas of Europe in search of more conquests and a force that can stop him.

The Huns are the most capable faction in Total War: Attila when the campaign starts, able to execute impressive battlefield maneuvers on their horses, retreating in the face of superior armies and attacking them from range with hails of arrows.

The developers state, “However, they must act swiftly to turn this chaos into an empire. While their leaders’ arguments rage, the horde waits, paralysed, for the arrival of a man. A man powerful enough to unite the Hunnic peoples and bind them to his will…”

The Hun faction is not allowed to settle down in the game, which means they will continue to plague other nations until they are entirely defeated.

The horde mechanics in Total War: Attila can make them even more powerful as they destroy the region where they reside and gain experience and new warriors for their leaders.

Total War: Attila aims to expand the classic strategy formula

The Creative Assembly has been creating complex strategy titles for a while now, and in Attila they are trying to bring back some of the features that the community has missed in Total War: Rome II, like the family tree, while also introducing innovation.

The game will feature climate change as a powerful force on the strategic map, pushing tribes to the south in search of fertile ground.

On the battlefield, gamers will have to make good use of both fire and fear in order to try and take out enemy armies before shields and swords actually clash.

Total War: Attila will be launched on the PC on February 17 and gamers who place a pre-order will get access to a pack with three extra factions.
