Video game developer The Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA are announcing that they are planning to launch the first big downloadable content for Total War: Attila, called The Longbeards Culture Pack, on Thursday, giving players access to three new playable factions.

Those who pay the 7.99 dollars or 7.49 Euro requested for the DLC will get access to the Langobards, the Burgundians and the Alamans, each of them with unique faction traits and unit rosters. Each of the factions can be used in the campaign mode but also in both custom and multiplayer engagements.

The official announcement also says that Longbeards for Total War: Attila will also introduce a new mission called The Lay of Ybor.

The developers add, "This presents you with a series of linked narrative events. As events unfold, you will direct the actions of a fabled hero through a series of branching narrative choices. As the story draws to its conclusion, Ybor himself becomes available as a general for your armies, complete with traits that mirror the choices you’ve made."

More details about the Alamans, the Burgundians and the Langobards can be seen on the official wiki of Total War: Attila.

It's very soon for the first DLC to be launched

A lot of those who are playing Total War: Attila will not be happy to see a DLC announcement coming just one week after launch, and The Creative Assembly will certainly have to face some accusations linked to content that was cut from the original game in order to be later sold to the community.

The community would have probably liked to first get a patch for the game in order to balance the combat and to fix some of the small problems that have already been flagged.

The Creative Assembly has not said how many DLC packs it plans to launch for Total War: Attila or if it plans to continue its policy from Rome II, which mixed some free content among the releases.

The new strategy game is in much better shape than its predecessor on launch and many fans of the series have been saying that the new mechanics make the experience much more immersive and that the difficulty level is another reason to consider buying it.
