Chromebooks appear to hold the key to future profits or at least this is what brand vendors appear to think, as more and more race to unveil Chrome-enabled laptops.

Dell has just announced its first laptop and ASUS will reportedly pull the veil off two models in the year to come, while Samsung, HP and Google already have models out on the market. But how about Toshiba?

The company has expressed its intentions to put out its own branded Chromebook soon, but until now we’ve had no information regarding it. But thank God for errors.

Apparently due to a publishing mistake, the guys over at PCMag have posted a hands-on article about the very first Toshiba Chromebook, says Notebook Italia. The link is no longer available online, but you can still find the article in Google’s cache.

So Toshiba is not working on a Chromebook, it has already finalized the endeavor and has shipped out the device to select reviewers for testing.

According to the information found online, the first Toshiba Chromebook will have a 13.3-inch display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels (will not support touch-screen capabilities), making it the first device of its kind to sport a 13.3-inch display.

Moving on to the power house of the device, Toshiba has added an Intel Celeron 2955U processor clocked at 1.4GHz based on the latest Haswell architecture paired with 2GB of RAM and backed up by 16GB of storage.

Other specifications includes 802.11n Wi-Fi module, 2 USB 3.0 ports, HDMI output, a webcam, an SD card reader (which supports SDHC and SDXC) plus a Kensington lock slot.

The Chromebook has a decent battery life said to be able to provide up to 9 hours of intense use. The device is built with a plastic frame and has a silver finish.

Expect to see the Chromebook live at the CES 2014, and according to the leaked article, it will sport a price tag of $279 / €203 (just like the HP Chromebook 11).
