Toshiba has already shown off its trio of Calpella-powered dynabook EX Series mobile PCs, but they aren't all that the PC maker has in store, it seems. In fact, they appear to have only prepared the atmosphere for the announcement of an even higher-grade product, as well as that of a certain other pair of Calpella ultrathin laptops that focus on portability rather than performance.

The members of dynamic duo eager to head out are known as the dynabook MX/36M and MX/34M. They both measure 11.6 inches in screen size (1366 x 768 resolution), boast 2GB of RAM each, Intel integrated graphics, a 320GB HDD, LAN, WiMAX, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, a webcam and an HDMI output.

What differentiates the two is the CPU. To be more specific, the MX/34M, priced at $980, features a Celeron U3400 (1.06GHz), whereas the MX/36M has a 1.2GHz Core i3-330UM at its heart ($1,200). As for battery life, both models should be able to reach about 6.4 hours.

The dynabook TX/98MBL can be seen as the more formidable of the collection. It runs on an Intel Core i7-740M central processor, has 640GB of storage, Harman-Kardon stereo speakers and Dolby Advanced Audio.

What matters most is the display. With a size of 15.6 inches, the LCD panel has a refresh rate of 120Hz, which means it can render 3D content. Verily, the mobile PC was made compatible with NVIDIA 3D Vision and has full support for Blu-ray 3D, and to make sure that graphical performance is as high as possible, Toshiba implemented the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 350M discrete GPU, with 1GB of VRAM. Finally, the company is offering even the latest Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 software suite and expects to start shipping this newcomer by the end of July. Pricing details are still a mystery.
