The world of the tablet is growing steadily, with new models either on sale or pre-order, and it looks like some information may have surfaced concerning the thrive, developed by Toshiba.

Over the past week, one could say that the HP TouchPad tablet managed to get away with most of the attention invested in the slate segment.

Having been released and reviewed, the product has even been taken apart by certain analysts in order to see exactly what it is made of, compared to the Apple iPad.

Now, a certain other product has garnered some attention of its own, not by starting to sell but by getting the closest thing that amounts to an availability date.

The Toshiba Thrive, as it is called, has already been put up for pre-order, but in absence of any official updates, market watchers have had to keep their eyes and ears peeled for more leaks.

Apparently, one such leak came to reach the web through the actions of the folks over at Engadget.

Turns out that shipments will commence on July 10, 2011, at least as far as BestBuy is concerned, or so an anonymous source claims.

Thrive tablets with 16GB of storage space are supposed to already be in stock, and in quite a healthy quantity even.

For those that want a refresh on what the product is and does, the NVIDIA Tegra 2-based electronic features the Android 3.1 operating system and either 8 GB, 16 GB or 32 GB of NAND Flash storage. In that order, the prices are $429.99, $479.99 and $579.99, respectively.

There is little doubt that BestBuy will have all three sorts, not just the middle option, once the fateful day comes around of course.

Other features one will be interested in knowing about, beyond the optional docking station, is the existence of the admittedly obligatory microSD memory card slot, two webcams, mini USB, Bluetooth, WiFi, HDMI and various sensors (GPS, accelerometer, digital compass, ambient light sensor).
