Telefonica O2 Germany has just announced that it will start selling the powerful Toshiba TG01 smartphone, exclusively in Germany. The announcement follows the rich number of praises that the smartphone received when it was showcased for the first time this year, at the Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona. In fact, the device has been one of the highlights of this year's MWC and O2 managed to secure an excellent deal, by selling it exclusively for a short time.

Toshiba TG01 Pocket PC includes the most powerful CPU ever embedded into a PDA, Qualcomm's Snapdragon class QSD8250 at 1GHz speed. Also, it features the largest screen available on the market, 4.1-inch Wide-VGA (800 x 480 pixels) touchscreen, and only measures 9.9mm in thickness, which makes it the slimmest Pocket PC. Other highlights of the smartphone include: HSDPA and HSUPA connectivity, Bluetooth and USB 2.0, built-in GPS with A-GPS function, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, 3.2 Megapixel camera, 512 MB ROM and 256MB RAM, microSDHC support for memory expansion (up to 32GB) and 1000 mAh Li-Ion battery.

Even though it runs on a Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system, Toshiba TG01 is one of the few smartphones that will be upgradable to the soon-to-be-launched Windows Mobile 6.5 OS. Also, the unique three-dimensional user interface has been especially developed by Toshiba to give users a complete multimedia experience. Thus, it features gesture operations, which enables users to answer incoming calls by simply giving the device a quick shake or they can navigate between opened applications by tilting the TG01 to the right or to the left. Moreover, these operations can be controlled using just one hand.

The white version of Toshiba TG01 will be available exclusively through O2, in Germany, starting this summer, for a price that will be announced later on.
