Offering the same universal compatibility as its predecessor, the dynadock V docking station was recently unveiled by Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD). The product builds on the technology and design used in the first of the line, the dynadock U, and combines a true desktop environment with high resolutions, enhanced productivity and easy software installation.

The dynadock V is designed as a consumer-aimed connectivity and multi-tasking solution for home and office setups. It is half as big as the dynadock U and one third thinner, which makes it an excellent, space efficient conduit for peripherals. The product can enable add-on peripherals such as external monitors, keyboards, mouse, printers, routers, headsets and other accessories even while using a single USB cable to plug into the PC. In addition, the docking station is built with four USB 2.0 ports and 3.5mm audio in and out. The device even has Ethernet LAN connectivity and can power and charge MP3 players or other electronics through the Sleep-and-Charge USB port.

“Toshiba’s first universal docking station, dynadock U, has proven to be popular with business professionals and consumers looking for a more versatile workstation. We recognized that we needed to deliver a solution using the same innovative dynadock technology at a more aggressive price point,” said Michael Cassidy, Director, Marketing Accessory, HDD and Services, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. “The dynadock V is small on size, but not small on power making it perfect for home or school environments.”

Besides just the ability to connect multiple peripherals, the dynadock V has a built-in HD video card, which enables the connection of an extra VGA or DVI monitor with display resolutions of up to 1920 x 1080 pixels. Finally, the dynadock V includes utility software and drivers for the Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems.

The Toshiba dynadock V docking station will become available next month through toshibadirect at a MSRP of $119.99. Product information on the entire line may be found here.
