More than a month ago, Toshiba was announcing that the company had developed a high-speed CMOS image sensor capable of capturing Full HD video footage with up to 240 frames per second.

With only a few days left until the Mobile World Congress kicks off, the Japanese electronics maker has officially revealed the new 13MP BSI CMOS image sensor called T4K82.

To achieve these amazing results, the Toshiba T4K82 image sensor integrates the company's “Bright Mode” technology that uses interlaced video output to double exposure times and boosts image brightness up to four times by doubling the electrical charge of each pixel in order to capture 1080p videos at 240fps.

This is great news for every smart device manufacturer, since future smartphones and tablets will be capable of recording high-quality video footage at an amazing speed in order to provide smooth slow-motion playback. The first sample shipments are scheduled to start next month.
