3D LCD TVs may not be news nowadays, but there are definitely a number of newcomers that, by their very nature, stand out from the crowd. No longer are TVs solely meant to pick up a broadcasting signal and output it. Now, courtesy of companies like Toshiba, they even include their own storage solutions and multimedia playback devices. The Regza line of 3D LCD TVs is one of the more recent, and high-end, series of so-called all-in-one displays.

First off, in terms of actual display performance, the Regza hold a fairly high position. For one, they have a brightness of 1,000 nits and a DCR (Dynamic Contrast Ratio) of up to an astounding 9,000,000:1. They also boast refresh rates of 240Hz and a 2D-to-3D conversion technology. Currently, there are three models, the 55-inch Regza Slim 55XE2, the 46-inch 46XE2 and the powerful 55X2.

One of the more important features is the existence of 3TB of HDD storage. A 2TB HDD is used for the "time-shift machine 2” feature, which can record programs from up to eight channels simultaneously. Also, an extra 1TB drive is used for the standard recording of a selected program. Besides this, up to 8 extra HDDs can be recorded via USB and even a Blu-ray Disk recorder can be connected through a HDMI cable with a LAN cable function, allowing programs to be directly scribed onto the disks. As for web connectivity, Toshiba threw in a browser that supports full HD video and is based on the Opera17.

Needless to say, the displays will hardly come cheap. In fact, they probably won't be affordable to anyone but the most financially equipped hard-core enthusiasts. The Flagship 55X2 sells for about a million Yen, which is the equivalent of $11,430. It will start selling in late October. As for the others, the 55-inch Slim model will be priced at $8,000, while the 46-inch will sell for $6,858. Both are set to go on sale earlier that month.
