Last week a few unannounced Toshiba tablets seemingly pertaining to the Encore family showed up online.

Today the company has taken the opportunity to unveil its back-to-school lineup, which includes two Encore tablets plus a budget friendly 7-inch one, reports TechCrunch.

The two Encore tablets arrive in 8-inch and 10-inch form factors, and are amongst the first products of their kind to arrive with Windows 8.1 with Bing. The third slate is an Android one.

All three devices draw life from an Intel quad-core Atom Z3745F processor. Aside from the obvious display differences, the two Encore tablets are fairly similar.

They both arrive with an IPS display with a native resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and will both take advantage of the “connected to standby” system, which means all your data will be fresh awaiting you to wake the device up from sleep mode.

The slates are equipped with two cameras (1.2MP 720p webcam in front and 5MP, 1080p camera in the back). Other specifications include 802.11 Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and a microSD card that supports memory extension up to 128GB.

The 10-inch model has an extra HDMI port, which customers won’t find in the 8-incher. Toshiba says the 8-inch Encore 2 is an entertainment/consumption device, while the 10-inch Encore 2 Windows tablet can be used for work and play. Nevertheless, both slates arrive with a free one-year subscription to Microsoft Office 365 Personal.

Toshiba will be offering multiple options, memory- and storage-wise. The 8-inch Encore 2 with 2GB of memory and 32GB of internal storage will be sold for $249 / €182, while the 10-inch Encore 2 with 1GB of memory and 32GB of storage plus keyboard cover will go on sale for $299 / €218.

Last but not least, Toshiba unveiled the Android-powered Excite Go tablet, which will sell with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via the microSD card slot).

The Excite Go might not offer a great deal in the spec department, but judging by its super affordable price-tag (it sells for only $109 / €80), it will manage to draw in some customers.

The device comes with a 7-inch screen and offers a pretty average 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. Toshiba says the slate should be able to sustain up to 8 hours of work. Most importantly, the slate runs Android 4.4. KitKat out of the box, so you won’t have to wait for updates. .

The Excite Go will go on sale, starting this July.
