14 DAY TRIAL // If you’re interested in the whole Bay Trail tablet wave, you should know that Toshiba’s Encore slate is available for pre-order as of today on Amazon.com.
The slate features an 8-inch IPS screen with a decent resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Toshiba powers the slate with a 1.8GHz Atom Z3740 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM, and it has slipped in Intel HD Graphics too. Windows 8.1 is the default operating system on board, and the company offers Microsoft Office 2013 Home & Student as well.
Internal storage has been set to 32GB but, thanks to the microSD card slot, customers can increase. On top of that, Toshiba has added two cameras (8MP rear one plus the 2MP front-facing), micro HDMI, micro USB 2.0 port, and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi.
The tablet is pretty light, weighing only 1.1 pounds / 0.49 kg and, coupled with the decent specs, it will turn out to be a great addition to the family. Grab yours for $330 / €247.
