As major industry players dive in the adoption and deployment of WiMAX, it appears that some of the first WiMAX-enabled notebooks are beginning to make their debut on the market, thus allowing users to take full advantage of the benefits brought by the next generation WiMAX technology. One of recently introduced WiMAX-enabled portable systems comes from Toshiba, in the form of a 13.3-inch Satellite notebook.

Now, just in case you have ever wondered why you should choose a WiMAX notebook, how about having the freedom of browsing the Internet, downloading large files, playing online games or enjoying any other Internet-related activity, without needing to be continuously looking for a hot spot. Basically, this is what you get if you decide to purchase Toshiba's latest portable system. Of course, you can enjoy all of the above as long as you are within an XOHM coverage area, which should be rather large.

Speaking strictly in terms of specifications and numbers, the new Satellite from Toshiba comes built on the latest in computing technology, including the WiMAX and Centrino 2 technologies from leading chip maker Intel. The 13.3-inch widescreen display also has its benefits, as it enables a higher level of portability, which is something that goes very nicely with a WiMAX-enabled notebook.

Other technical details include a high-speed eSATA/USB Sleep-And-Charge Combo port, built-in webcam with face recognition, a high-capacity hard drive offering 320GB of storage space and 4GB of RAM memory.

Unfortunately, the notebook is not available right now, but according to the company, the Satellite U405 will soon be made available for purchase through the company's website.
