Toshiba officially introduced its first Chromebook ever at CES 2014, being one of the last of the big brand names to jump on the Google OS bandwagon (ASUS is still expected to make the plunge this year). We already told you that the Toshiba model has been made available for pre-order on Amazon. A few short days after the Chromebook arrives in Australia as well.

The laptop is the first of its kind to come sporting a 13.3-inch screen and has a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution (like its smaller cousins) and features a svelte, clean look.

Moreover, the laptop is powered by an Intel Haswell-based dual core processor capable of sustaining all your activities on the notebook (via Delimiter).

Product Marketing Manager for Toshiba ISD, Anthony Geronimo introduced the product to Aussie costumers by saying the company is “excite to deliver an ultraportable, stylish everyday cloud companion, this is engineered for fast cloud computing, at a very happy price.

“The Toshiba Chromebook is sleek, slim and durable. It has a premium finish and is packed with Toshiba’s essential features.”

Connectivity-wise, the Toshiba laptop has a fully-fledged HDMI port, SD Card slot, Kensington lock port, Wi-Fi 802.11 N and Bluetooth 4.0. The company says the Chromebook will offer up to 9 hours of battery life, which is pretty decent.

As with most Chromebook offerings these days, the Toshiba notebook will come with free 100GB of Google Drive Cloud Storage available for the first two years, to complement the 16GB SSD offered onboard.

According to Toshiba, the new device will be made available through all major retailers in the country, both in brick and mortar locations, but also online via mytoshiba.com.au.

This will allow Aussie customers to get their hands on the new Chromebook a little bit faster than their American customers.

Anyway, the Chromebook lappy will be available for purchases for AUD$ 399 / $351 / €257.
