Toshiba is jumping in the mobile workstation bandwagon today, with its first laptop aimed at business users, the Tecra W50. As one would expect, the company designed the W50 for maximum portability and performance, featuring a light and thin design users will love.

Vice president of marketing and product development for Tosiba, Carl Pinto introduced the new baby.

“The Tecra W50 is a testament to Toshiba’s ability to design and develop mobile computing products that meet the highest performance standards yet still remain portable.”

“As one of the thinnest and lightest workstations currently available on the market, the Tecra W50 is the right choice for any design professional looking for robust processing power, powerful graphics and maximum performance – anytime, anywhere.”

The machine is powered by an Intel Core i7 quad-core processor and offers incredible graphics capabilities thanks to its dedicated Nvidia Quadro K2100M graphics. The Tecra W50 features a 15.6-inch HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, which enables professionals to work with highly demanding graphic platforms such as SoldWorks or AutoCAD without breaking a sweat.

And because security proves to be very important in some professional fields, Toshiba makes sure all data stays secure. The company has added the innovative Trusted Platform Module, which is basically a finger print reading technology to ensure everything on board stays safe.

The laptop also features an LED-backlit keyboard with 10-key numeric pad and built-in AccuPoint pointing device, so users can work even in poor lighting conditions without problems.

The new Tecra W50 will become available for purchase from Toshiba’s third-party retail partners and also from ToshibaDirect.com starting October 18. The price will start from $1,999 / €1,473.
