Although Toshiba's brand-new Android tablet has already gone through some live-handling at CES 2011, the Japanese company was a bit late with the official announcement, that, as you'll be able to see as follows, provides some further interesting details regarding the tablet's hardware configuration and overall capabilities. The tablet will come equipped with a 10.1-inch diagonal widescreen multi-touch, delivering 1280x800 resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio, as well as a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip with integrated NVIDIA graphics, enabling 1080p HD video playback.

Moreover, the tablet will pack the Toshiba Resolution+ video as well as sound enhancement technologies, delivering a very good mobile multimedia playback experience, further boosted by the support the tablet provides for Adobe Flash content.

Toshiba's tablet also comes equipped with user-replaceable EasyGrip back covers and a replaceable prismatic lithium ion battery, plus a two megapixel front-facing camera and five megapixel rear-facing camera, as well as integrated GPS and compass.

The list of available connectivity options is also quite extensive, including a full-size HDMI port to easily share photos and video on an HDTV, a full-size USB and a mini USB 2.0 port, a full-size SD Card slot, Bluetooth and 802.11n Wi-Fi support.

“The time is right to deliver a new generation of tablets that go beyond expectations, giving users the freedom to experience the full web and app ecosystem with open designs that provide unprecedented connectivity and personalization,” said Jeff Barney, vice president and general manager, Toshiba America Information Systems, Digital Products Division.

“This new device reflects Toshiba’s long expertise in merging intuitive, easy-to-use visual and mobility-focused hardware with uncommonly smart technologies and will deliver on the promise of the category,” added Mr. Barney.

The Toshiba tablet is slated to become officially available in the first half of 2011, although no specific details regarding the pricing have been yet provided.
