When we covered the new Tecra A11 business laptop from Toshiba earlier today, we mentioned that the company had also delivered an overall stronger, but smaller R840 series model as well.

Quite often, especially on the consumer IT market, products will be released by themselves, with a whole press release dedicated just to them.

This, of course, is not a rule, but one might still have noticed that it is the business/enterprise sector that commonly sees more than one machine, sometimes entire collections, get unleashed at the same time.

Toshiba performed the latter type of maneuver not long ago, when it presented three new notebooks, Tecra R840-11E, Tecra R850-11P and Tecra A11-1HZ.

As already mentioned, we already detailed the A11-1HZ. Now we are taking a look at the R840-11E, whose display size is 14 inches.

The center piece is the Intel Core i5-2520M central processor, whose frequency is of 3.20 GHz and which is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM (random access memory).

As is the case with the new Tecra A11, the chip has its own integrated Intel HD graphics, this having full control over the 14-inch HD display (1,366 x 768 pixel resolution).

That said, the HDD chosen is the same 320 GB sort of unit, while the connectivity capabilities are a bit better, with Bluetooth 3.0 + HS (instead of Bluetooth 2.1) and WLAN, plus a docking port, UMTS/3G HSPA and a DisplayPort, plus a built-in webcam.

All the above are crammed inside a package that measures 341 x 239 x 27.6 mm, weighs around two pounds.

What's more, the hardware runs on the power provided by a battery that can supposedly last for up to 9 hours.

Other specs include a pair of USB 2.0 connectors, an Express Card slot and even an USB 3.0 port, so that all sorts of external storage units can run at their best. Online stores should have the R840-11E up for sale at 1,350 Euro, or soon will.
