At quite an affordable price tag

It would seem that not a week goes by without yet another projector-related announcement from Toshiba, the company rolling out quite an impressive line-up of such products over the past few months. And this time, the Japanese company has announced the TLP-X3000AU, a device dedicated especially to mobile presenters, educators and small-to-medium sized businesses, this being the reason why it delivers some mid-range features at a relatively affordable price tag.

The device features Toshiba's latest Natural Color Enhancer3 (NCE3), which boosts presentation color saturation for a more natural, sharp and vivid image. The projector also sports a sleek, compact form factor, and can deliver up to XGA 1024 x 768 resolution and 400:1 contrast ratio, as well as, more importantly, a 3,000 ANSI lumen brightness level.

Unlike most of the other devices of this type, the TLP-X3000AU projector features a sophisticated approach to security. A removable palm-sized control panel on the projector is specially designed with a self-assigned password for theft prevention. When the control panel is removed, the projector is rendered inoperable, unless the password is entered on the remote control or when the control panel is replaced.

Other important features offered by the Toshiba TLP-X3000AU are the one-touch auto setup on a fully-loaded presentation remote, as well as the "Blackboard" function that allows wall color adjustment when projecting on a non-screen surface for more attractive and clear presentations and instant power shut down capability that enables the projector to power off instantly once disconnected from the power outlet with no cool-down time required.

The device also packs quite a wide variety of connectivity options, such as composite video and S-video inputs, audio in and multiple audio output capabilities, is HDTV/DTV compatible and also provides special monitor-out capabilities to display and view images on a monitor and screen simultaneously, allowing presenters to face their audience rather than turning around to read slides as they appear on the screen.

"Projectors have become a desired target during school break-ins due largely to the popularity of digital entertainment, such as video gaming and home theaters," said Sam Malik, director of projector sales and marketing, Toshiba Digital Products Division. "The removable control panel was integrated in the TLP-X3000AU projector to help educators and business users safeguard their investment. Without the panel, the projector becomes completely unusable and worthless to thieves."

The new projector from Toshiba will retail for around 1,199 US dollars, which is not exactly a very small price tag, but it's not exactly an exaggerated one either, taking into consideration the features this thing has to offer.
