A brand new series of high end laptops based on the Intel's Santa Rosa platform was announced today by the Japanese hardware manufacturer and vendor Toshiba. The entire line of the M200/2005 laptops feature 14.1-inch widescreen LCDs, Intel integrated graphics and Intel processors. According to the products page from the Toshiba Web site, the M200/205 series is an "updated Onyx Blue Metallic laptop with thinner, sleeker, more ergonomic chassis design".

The 14.1-inch widescreen based on the liquid crystal display technology also packs Toshiba's TruBrite Technology that allows for vivid colors and more crisp and clear images. A big image resolution with a maximum 1280x800 makes good use of the integrated Intel graphics solutions, the Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 chip that can share between 64MB and 256MB of video memory from the main system memory. The chipset of the Toshiba M200/2005 family of laptops is the Mobile Intel 965GM Express chipset that comes with an integrated wireless Wi-Fi compliant LAN controller, the Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN that supports the following wireless standards 802.11a/g/n. The system comes with a default 2GB of high speed DDR2 memory that has a standard clock frequency of 800MHz. User needing more memory may upgrade to a maximum 4096MB of RAM.

The M200/205 laptops have an Intel mobile processor based on the Core 2 Duo architecture, users being able to choose from the T2080, T7100, T5300 and T7100 CPUs. The default T7100 CPU has a running speed of 1.8GHz, a 2MN of second level cache memory and an 800MHz frontside bus with Intel's 64bit technology. Storage capabilities are represented by a 200GB hard disk drive with a Serial ATA interface and a 4200 rotational speed. A DVD SuperMulti optical drive with Labelflash technology complements the storage system. The optical unit supports high reading and writing speeds and no less than 11 data storage formats like CD-ROM (24x), CD-R (24x), CD-RW (16x), DVD-ROM (8x), DVD-R (Single Layer, (8x)), DVD-R (Double Layer, (4x)), DVD-RW (6x), DVD+R (Single Layer, (8x)), DVD+R (Double Layer, (4x)), DVD+RW (8x), DVD-RAM (5x).

Toshiba paid special attention to the sound department too as the M200/2005 line of laptops come with integrated stereo speakers, microphone and volume control. As input devices we have a keyboard featuring 86 keys in the US fashion and a TouchPad pointing device that supports enabling and disabling functions.
