It seems that almost every PC vendor is updating its product portfolio with the new products that take advantage of Intel's CULV platform, consequently providing end-users with a wider choice for a new, ultraportable PC. Such is the case with Toshiba, which has recently announced the debut of its new Dynabook MX/43 and MX/33 thin and light laptops in Japan. Designed on the aforementioned CULV platform, the new laptops are expected to become available soon, round about the same time Microsoft's Windows 7 launches.

The two systems offer a choice of performance, with the first being powered by a more capable processor, and the second coming as a choice for users looking for an affordable ultraportable PC. According to the specifications of the two, the MX/43 comes in a 13.3-inch form factor and offers a choice for a Core 2 Duo SU9400 processor, clocked at 1.4GHz and coupled with 2GB of RAM. Apparently, users will be able to increase the memory capacity to an impressive 8GB, but that is yet to be confirmed.

Additional features include a 250GB hard disk drive and a battery pack rated at 10.5 hours of life. The smaller-sized MX/33 laptop comes with an 11.6-inch design and is powered by a lower-power Celeron 743 processor, clocked at 1.3GHz. The system's other specifications are similar to the aforementioned MX/43 model, with both laptops expected to boast Microsoft's Windows 7 Home Premium operating system.

The new CULV-based Toshiba laptops will be available in three different color options, for users in Japan. Unfortunately there are no details on when, or if the two designs will be launched outside the country, where they will become available on October 22. Details regarding the prices of the two systems are yet to be revealed.
