Later during this summer, Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion might bring to the market in the United States a new smartphone running under its BlackBerry OS 7 platform, namely the Torch 2.

Already leaked and rumored a few times before, the new device is expected to arrive on the market as the successor of the original sliding handset from RIM, and should also bring into the mix a series of enhancements that would make users rejoice.

One of them is said to be a new soft QWERTY keyboard, powered by the new mobile operating system version that RIM unveiled to the world only a few months ago.

The upcoming BlackBerry OS 7 should include a new keyboard layout in Torch 2, some of the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Moreover, it seems that other handsets might also benefit from the enhancement, including Torch 9850/60 smartphones.

Apparently, RIM is getting the touch input method on BlackBerry Torch 2 in line with the one available on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet PC.

Whether that would indeed prove to be real or not will be unveiled only after RIM goes official with the new sliding device, something that might happen in the near future, it seems.

As stated above, the mobile phone was already spotted into the wild in a series of leaked photos and videos, and some details on its possible landing also emerged.

Rumor has it that AT&T and RIM might make the BlackBerry Torch 2 available for purchase sometime in August, and the fact that FCC has just approved the smartphone seems to confirm that.

Of course, no official announcement on this emerged, nor confirmation on the specifications or capabilities of this device, but, if rumors were to pan out, all should be brought to light soon, so keep an eye on this space for additional info on the matter.
