The folks from Blackboard managed to build a revolutionary software solution that is meant to stop the student fraud and detect the copied content used in papers and exams. Since most of students gained access to the Internet, plagiarism boomed as almost any paper work could be found on the web. The only problem was that is was created by somebody else so it wasn't an original project. The teachers and the universities from every corner of the world were urgently looking for a solution and Blackboard is now delivering it through the SafeAssign Blackboard Building Block or Blackboard PowerLink.

The new solution, codenamed SafeAssign, works quite easy and is able to detect any paper that is copied from the Internet. First of all, the teachers must introduce the papers into the application. Then, the application will automatically search its database of approximately 1.100 publications and 2.6 million articles as well as the Internet for similar tags or phrases. After the process is over, SafeAssign generates a report in which every copied text along with a link to the original source are mentioned.

"SafeAssign provides a valuable new tool to Blackboard clients, helping shed light on the important issue of plagiarism while working to prevent it," said Michael Chasen, president and CEO of Blackboard. "Perhaps one of the greatest benefits of using Blackboard technology is being part of the Blackboard community; SafeAssign is a tool that truly takes advantage of this extensive community."

"As more and more institutions add materials and papers to the SafeAssign Global Reference Database, detecting plagiarism will become more efficient and accurate. No other solution can bring so many clients together to help address an issue that affects all institutions."

It's obvious that cheating isn't a solution to pass the exams anymore, since the software companies from the entire world joined forced to stop this phenomenon and build powerful products to discovere unoriginal content.
