Complete with snowboards

Activision Blizzard sends word that the development of a new Tony Hawk videogame for the Nintendo DS platform is now official and that it will be called Tony Hawk's Motion. The title is an indication that the game will have motion control capabilities created by way of an add-on which will use the GBA port of the Nintendo game consoles.

The add-on is designed to tell the game how a player is moving his hands, in an effort to create an even more interesting experience than that of previous Nintendo DS games. It is called the Motion Pack and Activision says that players will be able to "twist, tilt, and turn through numerous skateboarding sessions."

The addition of the Motion Pack is supplemented by the fact that the new Tony Hawk game will let the player not only skate his way to success on solid ground using wheels but also on the slippery slopes of various mountains using a snowboard. Activision has been licensed the image rights of pro snowboarder Todd Richards and will use him to guide the player down four tortuous downhill snowboard tracks, situated in Tokyo, Dubai, Vermont and in the Alps. Overall, the game will offer more than 20 different events in which the player will be able to compete.

And Activision seems to be ready to overwhelm potential buyers with extra content. Not only does the Tony Hawk game get snowboarding, it seems that the overall package will contain a second game. It's called Hue Pixel Painter and the developers are saying this is an action-puzzle game. The idea is that players will tilt their Nintendo DS with the attached Motion Pack as they try to "connect paint filled pools to transform still, barren wastelands into living landscapes of lush sounds and vivid color one element at a time." Sounds fun, but it's a bit weird seeing it packed together with a snowboard/skateboard title.

Players who buy the package announced by Activision Blizzard will get the Motion Pack with both games and it seems we'll be able to get our hands on it as soon as November.
