Tommy Tallarico, the video game music composer has been handed an award by Postal creators, Running With Scissors. The award was announced during last year's Christmas Party, an yearly event staged by RWS, which was, in 2007, part of the year-long celebration of the company's 10th anniversary.

Tallarico entered the video game industry back in 1991 and, since then, he worked on more than 250 game titles, including the Earthworm Jim Series, Messiah, MDK, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Advent Rising and he has already won over 25 industry awards for best video game soundtracks. So people could have already expected such an award for him, like the one offered by Running With Scissors.

The award decision was partly explained by RWS CEO Vince Dessi: "This is an acknowledgment on our part, of someone who has been both a dynamic force within the video game industry and a good friend to Running With Scissors. Tommy Tallarico has achieved what so few artists have in any field by successfully crossing over two giant industries, blending games and music; truly an amazing feat."

"It's an honor to be recognized for bringing recognition to the industry that I love so much," Tallarico responded. "As the industry starts to take itself more seriously I hope it never loses sight of what we're all about.... fun. I've seen a lot of industry progress over my career and still think there is a lot more to go. I'm looking forward to what the future holds and I'm humbled and grateful to receive this acknowledgment."

If you don't know yet what kind of music Tallarico composes, you might have a chance to catch him live, since his "Video Games Live" concert series will be performed this year all over the world, starting this month. Or just grab some of the video games he composed for, and you'll understand what the man can do.
