Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, the re-launched version of the most recent Lara Croft adventure, has managed to take over the number one spot in the United Kingdom for the week that ended on February 1, its first one on sale.

The game can be played on both the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft, and publisher Square Enix and developer Crystal Dynamics are saying that the new version of the game is designed to update mechanics and the graphics of the title.

The new Lara Croft experience changes the way the main character is portrayed, with a bigger focus on the way she evolves when she needs to confront adversity.

FIFA 14, which has dominated the UK chart so far in 2014, is now in second place according to data from UKIE, but the football simulation will probably be back on top in the coming weeks as Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition fades.

The last place on the podium is occupied by Call of Duty: Ghosts, the first-person shooter created by developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision, which has recently received the Onslaught downloadable content pack on the Xbox One and the 360.

Battlefield 4 is in fourth place for the week, staying just behind its main rival, and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, distributed by Warner Bros. Entertainment, is in fifth place.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag from Ubisoft is also down one position and the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft continues to sell well and sits in seventh.

Grand Theft Auto V, from Rockstar and Take Two, remains in eighth place and Need for Speed: Rivals, the racing title from Electronic Arts, is still in ninth.

Killzone: Shadow Fall, the shooter from Guerrilla Games, closes down the United Kingdom top ten after losing three places in one week.
