British actor Tom Hardy will work again with director Chris Nolan on the highly anticipated “The Dark Knight,” the third and last take on the Batman story by Nolan. In a recent TV interview, Hardy opened up for the first time about his villainous role.

As we also reported at the time, Hardy will play Bane, a character he describes on Allan Carr’s Chatty Man as not “campy,” and a bit more “menacing.”

Of course, in order to achieve this, Hardy will have to pack a lot of extra weight, in muscle mass, a feat he’s not a stranger to since he first notoriously physically transformed himself for the critically acclaimed “Bronson.”

Hardy is most definitely not at liberty to talk about the plot of the upcoming film, but he still managed to offer fans a taste of it in the Carr interview, as the video below will show.

For instance, they should expect Bane to be more like in the comics and not like in one of the previous Batman films.

“Have you seen Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin? Doesn’t look very menacing does he?” Hardy tells the TV host, pointing at a picture on Bane on the screen.

“Christopher Nolan will revisit the character so I wouldn’t go by that at all,” the actor adds. In other words, it will be much more menacing than this.

“I’m going to need to bulk up a lot for it. That’s a lot of weight to put on and I’ve got to start shooting in May. I’ve got to go up to about 13 or 14 stone. I’m 12 and a bit now, so I only have a few months to do that,” Hardy adds.

Asked whether his Bane will be wearing a GIMP mask like he did in the comics, Hardy is suddenly playing it coy.

“Only if I feel like it!” he says laughing.
