Without a doubt, Tom Hardy has the ability to bring to life on the big (or small) screen some very interesting personalities and, for his next project, he will be taking on the iconic Sir Elton John.

Rocket Pictures confirms the casting to Slash Film, with the CEO stressing the many ways in which Hardy is perfect for the role, not that anyone needs convincing at this point, not after having seen him in “Stuart: A Life Backwards,” “Bronson,” “The Take” or the more recent “Warrior.”

“Much like the man himself, Rocketman is a larger-than-life movie musical spectacle that tells the story of a child prodigy turned music legend,” Rocket Pictures says.

“Elton will re-record many of his iconic hits to parallel the emotional beats of the film that will have audiences on their feet, singing along to his much loved music. The film is scheduled to shoot in fall 2014,” adds the production house.

Until “Rocketman” comes out, fans can catch Hardy in “Locke,” “Animal Rescue,” “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “Child 44,” with all these coming out in what’s left of 2013 and in 2014.
