Word online has it that Tom Hardy fans are about to get a double dose of Tom Hardy yumminess because he’s set to play twin brothers Reggie and Ronnie Kray in “Legend,” from “LA Confidential” writer, Brian Helgeland. Before you get too psyched about this, a word of caution: it might not happen.

The Daily Mail got to speak with Tom the other day and, unlike many Hollywood actors who either encourage rumors or refuse to address them, he actually addressed them. Unheard of, I know!

So, while Tom says he’d “absolutely love” to do a double role because the challenge would be something new to him and the story seems to hold such promise, he comes across as doubtful as to the chances of that happening.

The logistics of it, of playing a double role, could end up working against the project or, at the very least, of Tom accepting the part.

“It’s quite technical and I’m a bit of an anorak. There’s a physical transfer; we’d have to shoot one bit, go away come back and shoot it all again with another part. I’ve never dreamt of playing two people on the screen!” he says.

Fans of his work know what he’s talking about and, to a certain extent, understand him as well, I assume. Tom is Method and doing a double role would probably be too draining, not to mention time-consuming, which would probably make shooting for the movie go beyond a pre-approved schedule.

Still, there’s hope: “All the plans are on the table. There’s a lot of crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s, and there’s a lot of shift and geography to work out,” he says.

If everything goes OK, shooting for “Legend,” with Tom Hardy as both leads, would start in the UK later this year. Fingers crossed.
