The script of the upcoming Gears of War: Judgment from Epic Games is being written by Tom Bissell and Rob Auten and not by series regular Karen Traviss.

Tom Bissell is a video game journalist who has become well known in the industry for his “Extra Lives: Why Video Games Matter” book.

He has already worked on the Gears of War team and has created the art book that was included in the Collector’s Edition for the third game in the series.

He is now also working on a book about the Tommy Wiseau made movie, The Room.

Rob Auten is a consultant working with Twentieth Century Fox and has been linked with work for two Aliens-themed video games and the movie Avatar.

Karen Traviss is best known for the series of novels in the City of Pearl universe, which include the debut book with the same name and Crossing the Line, The World Before, Matriarch, Ally and Judge.

She has also worked with already developed intellectual property, including the Star Wars extended universe and Gears of War.

Traviss is also involved with a new line of books linked to Halo, the game that was initially created by Bungie and is now in the hands of 343 Industries.

Gears of War: Judgment is set as a prequel for the entire series and will allow gamers to control Baird, one of the supporting cast up until now, as he deals with a number of story threads after the events of Emergence Day.

The development team at Epic Games has promised new mechanics and complex action sequences backed by a new multiplayer mode that will combine elements of Horde and Beast.

Gears of War: Judgment will be launched exclusively on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft on September 20 of this year.
