To the Death is a new video game that’s seeking to get funding via Kickstarter and aims to mix mechanics taken from the shooter and the beat 'em up genre, delivering an entirely new experience focused on multiplayer.

The two independent companies that are working on the new project are Scary Monstro and Section Studios and they include industry veterans who have worked on titles like Titanfall, God of War and Call of Duty.

The mechanics of To the Death are designed to reward fast decisions and solid awareness, while offering an adrenaline generating experience.

The team explains, “Attack and defend with precision, having full 360 degree control of where you swing, shoot, and defend. Get a quick fix alone, play co-op for hours with a friend, or battle to the death with some intense new ways to play multiplayer.”

The story of the game is built around two powerful warriors who have already killed each other, but their hatred is so powerful that they are continuing their fight for eternity.

The two development teams are promising that the game will allow for extensive character customization and that the choices that players make will have a big impact on the actual battles.

They add, “Funding through Kickstarter gives us the freedom to make the game without compromise. It also allows us to get your input, your feedback, and your participation, so that together we can push To The Death to its full potential!”

To the Death aims to get 400,000 dollars (310,000 Euro) from backers and the team has a number of rewards laid out on the official Kickstarter site, depending on how much they pledge.

There are 28 days during which fans of the concept can contribute and the two teams will probably offer more details and even a look at gameplay during this period.
