The devices will be launched during an Unpacked-like event held in Russia

Good news for Samsung fans eager to experience the company’s first smartphones powered by Tizen operating system, as the South Korean handset maker is finally ready to bring its devices on the market.

Last year, Samsung announced that it might officially introduce Tizen OS early this year, but due to the fact that the platform did not seem to be ready for a market release, the company delayed the announcement for a later date.

Some carriers that should have supported Samsung in launching its Tizen-powered smartphones said earlier this year that the operating system was not yet ready to compete with Android and iOS in their countries.

This is probably one of the main reasons that Samsung decided to postpone the launch of its Tizen OS smartphones, aside from the fact that its devices may have not been on par with other handsets running other platforms such as Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

However, this is about to change, as Samsung is likely to launch its first Tizen-powered smartphones in the next few months, according to The Wall Street Journal.

It appears that Samsung is set to officially introduce the first Tizen devices later this month during an event similar to Unpacked press events where the company launches new Galaxy devices.

This is said to take place in Russia close to the Tizen developer conference, which has been confirmed to kick off on June 4 in San Francisco, United States.

After the announcement, the first Tizen smartphones will be launched in Russia, though it’s a bit early for details on release date and price tag. Still, we expect the smartphones to be released on the Russian market sometime in late June / early July.

The good news is that the Tizen-powered devices that are expected to be announced next month will also be launched in India, sources familiar with the matter claim.

Unfortunately, there’s no telling if these devices will be launched in India during an official event or they will go on sale at the same time as those announced in Russia.

We do expect different prices, considering that India is still an emerging market, while Russia is known for its high-priced smartphones regardless of their spec-range.

Keep in mind that these are just rumors that have yet to be confirmed by Samsung. Even if the company plans to unveil the first Tizen OS devices now, Samsung might change its mind by then. Anyway, stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
