Respawn Entertainment has just revealed the first details about the second map in its upcoming Expedition DLC, called Runoff, which will let players fight it out in a water treatment plant.

Titanfall launched back in March for the PC and Xbox One and appeared on the Xbox 360 in April, delivering a multiplayer-only first-person shooter experience with quite a lot of different maps and plenty of various modes that tested the skills of players.

This month, Respawn is set to debut the first map pack for Titanfall, in the form of the Expedition one, which includes three different levels for the shooter, named War Games, Runoff, and Swamplands.

After already talking about War Games and how it takes place in a simulator environment with bits and pieces from other maps, Respawn designer Geoff Smith has revealed a lot of fresh info and screenshots about Runoff on the official blog.

According to the developer, Runoff was initially planned about a year ago but, due to time constraints, it was cut from the main game and left as a possible DLC.

Now that Titanfall is available, Smith and the team went back to the idea for Runoff to see if it held up with the many changes implemented into the experience in the final year of work.

"Runoff was an experiment to try and make a small map but still allow Titans enough pathing options so that they don’t feel constrained or limited. The core concept of the level is multiple layers of paths: concrete canals filled with water and trash below, and upper levels that are cleaner and more industrial," he said.

"I thought the canals would be cool for Titans to fight in, with Pilots able to jump across them. I also set out to make more choke points in the level, something that is pretty hard to do in our game, at least for Pilots with their enhanced mobility."

Runoff consists of three main buildings, with the largest one housing two inlet tubes at the center, while the others are connected via sky-bridges and billboards. There's also a trench beneath the buildings that serves as a central artery.

"In CTF, the flag bases are located at either end of the main trench path. As a pilot you can use this trench to move between flags very quickly," Smith added. "In Hardpoint, B is the only point which can be captured directly by a Titan but both A and C allow a Titan to see and shoot into them–have your auto Titan provide cover while you capture."

Titanfall will get the Expedition DLC later this month for PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360. Until then, check out the screenshots below.
