Titanfall, the shooter developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, has managed to take the number one position in the United Kingdom video game chart during its first week on sale.

For the seven-day period that ended on March 15, the data from UKIE shows that Titanfall managed to perform very well, despite being offered only since March 13, and the experience has also managed to boost the overall sales of the Xbox One home console from Microsoft.

The game is also offered on the PC and an Xbox 360 version will be introduced on March 25, which means that the game can once again top the UK sales chart two times in the same month.

The development team at Respawn has already explained that it plans to deliver updates for the title on both platforms, both to correct problems that the community discovers and to add new features, the first of which will involve the introduction of private matches.

At the same time, a Season Pass is offered, which will cover three downloadable content packages coming in the next few months, which are confirmed to include more maps but might also deliver new monsters to battle and a new mode.

Titanfall has more than double the sale of the title placed in second place in the United Kingdom, Dark Souls 2 from developer From Software and publisher Namco Bandai.

The action role-playing title has performed very well, given its niche appeal, and those who have bought it were happy to report that the difficulty level of the experience was largely unchanged while the game world is even deeper than in the original.

The last place on the podium in the United Kingdom belongs to South Park: The Stick of Truth, developed by Obsidian and published by Ubisoft, which managed to attract the attention of both fans of the television show and those who appreciate role-playing games with good writing.

The title has dropped two positions from last week’s number one and is followed by The LEGO Movie Video Game, which is in the same position as during the previously tracked period.

Thief, the series reboot from Eidos Montreal and Square Enix, has seen one of the biggest drops of the current week and is now in fifth after sitting in second, while FIFA 14, the football sim from EA Sports, has lost one place to reach number six.

Seven is occupied by Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfar, with Call of Duty: Ghosts in eight.

Nine belongs to Minecraft on the Xbox 360 and Battlefield 4 closes down the UK top ten.
