PlayStation 3 gamers have been shortchanged again. During the last few months, owners of the Sony made home console have become accustomed to hearing that there's some exclusive content or some patch that their console would not be getting due to exclusive agreements with Microsoft or simply due to lack of interest from publishers.

Epic Games is the latest company to follow this trend by announcing that the upcoming Titan Pack, the first big expansion pack for Unreal Tournament 3, will be delayed. PlayStation 3 gamers will get their hands on it on March 19, while those playing on the PC or on the Xbox 360 are getting it today.

Steve Polge, a representative of Epic Games, posted on the official forums that “Unfortunately, due to circumstances out of our control, the certification process for the PS3 patch and DLC has taken much longer than we expected. As a result, we have been forced to push back the release date for the PS3 version to 3/19. The PC patch contains updates that will improve mods cooked for PS3, so we'll be taking advantage of this extra time to work with mod authors to make sure the best mods for UT3 are cooked with the latest patch.”

The Titan Pack is a big piece of new content set to make Unreal Tournament 3 attractive to first person shooter players interested in a bit of multiplayer mayhem. The pack contains 16 new environments, three bonus maps, two weapons, two deployable accessories, two characters, support for Steam achievements and other smaller tweaks. Those playing the game on the PlayStation 3 are also getting support for split screen multiplayer play and for the addition of Trophies.

For reasons that were never entirely clarified, Unreal Tournament 3, which was released in late 2007, never reached the popularity of Unreal Tournament 2004, which is still regularly played in multiplayer. Maybe the success of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is to blame.
