As many as two players can enjoy a free ride in a flying dumpster

Implementing a replay feature within Halo 3 is truly something that Bungie sometimes feels sorry for and this is one of those moments. According to Halo3Forum and BahamutZero's Cblog, although it isn't very hard to turn a dumpster into an aircraft, it certainly doesn't allow too much maneuverability. But once the thing is in the air, you can do as many stunts as you like and then watch your "performance" over and over again. Why don't you just take a look at the video below and see how you can fly as high as the scarab's head, taking a friend with you on the trip too.

According to the upper mentioned sources, all you have to do is get to the Scarab boss battle. There, you need to get a dumpster tipped over, in order to get inside it. Two players must enter the dumpster and start jumping like crazy. To make the dumpster become airborne, the two must jump at the same time.

Halo3Forum's Penguin mentions that "It works best if when you get in it you get it back to how its supposed to be and you both crouch so the lid closes on you." Players must then run towards the back of the dumpster and again, jump as fast as their thumbs allow them to.

From then on, players can do whatever is in their power to try and move the 'new Halo 3 vehicle' to one direction or another. It's pretty hard, but not impossible to achieve. Of course, only the replay will reveal exactly what gamers were able to do once they became airborne and started rubbing against each other in the flying metal box.

Interesting to see is that the game's psychics engine struggles and succeeds in replicating natural movement of a flying object, although the situation is completely new to the game. Had the box been blown away, the problem would have been simple to solve - let gravity do the work. However, when two players enter the box and start moving it towards an edge, the box can't fall because Spartans are touching solid surface (they're basically what's keeping it airborne). For all the game knows, the two players never even went over the edge. The game's code doesn't feature this as a possibility, revealing a glitch.
