Keepers at the Georgia Aquarium in the United States have recently announced that the facility is now home to a bunch of tiny big-belly seahorses that emerged from their eggs not very long ago.

Zoo Borns tells us that the Georgia Aquarium has been breeding this species in captivity for quite a while, and that the specimens obtained in this manner are used to raise awareness of the need to protect coral reefs and seagrass beds.

Whereas some of the big-belly seahorses born at this facility grow to become ambassadors for their species, other are sent to other aquariums, the same source details.

This means that facilities of this kind can remain open without having to constantly remove animals from their home in the wild in order to put them on display.

The baby big-belly seahorses are not yet on public display, but can be seen by people who opt to take a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility.
